With its prime location next to the train station, just a kilometre away from the historical centre of Sintra, an area classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in the Cultural Landscape category, the Pousada de Jovens de Sintra now rises up where, in 1873, was the terminal of the Larmanjat, a revolutionary monorail system, introduced in Portugal through the Torres Vedras-Sintra Line.

The Youth Hostel is housed in a singular, contemporary building, but at the same time establishing a poetic relationship with the place, which can be seen in several architectural elements from the existing buildings, such as the mansards and the exterior zinc roof coating. The interior architecture of the Youth Hostel invokes an industrial atmosphere, the train stations and the interior of the carriages with functional, informal and comfortable décor.

With capacity for 94 people in fixed beds, it has 24 rooms, spread over 3 floors, all with private bathroom, air conditioning and space for storing of small luggage.

Most rooms are multiple, 4 or 6 people, equipped with bunk beds. There are also 2 twin rooms for families, with the possibility of including an extra bed or cot, and 1 room equipped for people with reduced mobility. On the top floor, is the multipurpose room with access to a raised terrace with a clear view over the village, modern décor and relaxed atmosphere, hosteller kitchen, TV with access to premium channels and computers. In preparation a Gaming space also in this area.

The cafeteria of the Pousada, on the 1st floor, is open every day between 8 am and 9 pm and offers a specific breakfast menu for guests. This cafeteria is open to the public, community and visitors. On level 0, guests with longer stays can make use of the self-service laundry. Park for 8 bikes and a small uncovered car park. Wifi throughout the building.

Changes to bookings, where possible, must be made using the same means by which you made the booking.

Booking cancellations must be made using the same means by which the booking was made.

You can stay at the hostel for the maximum period of a tourist stay, 30 days.

It depends on availability at the hostel. You should always mention this when booking.

Yes, however, all children or young people under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult or submit an authorisation issued for this purpose.

Yes. When booking, you should mention that you require an adapted room, which will be allocated subject to availability.

In the event that your arrival does not coincide with our regular check-in schedule, please contact the hostel to inform us of your estimated time of arrival.

Yes, as long as it is properly labelled and if there is enough available space at the hostel. Please contact reception to confirm availability. However, the hostel is not responsible for the personal belongings of guests that have been left either in the rooms or in the common areas of the hostel.

Payment must either be made at in advance or at check in.

Payments are accepted in cash, by bank transfer, or by either Portuguese or international debit and credit cards.

Children up to 12 years old, who occupy an extra bed in a twin room, and provided accompanied by a responsible adult, are free of charge.

Yes, but only in double rooms. Placing an additional bed or cot in your room may incur a surcharge on the booking, and will be subject to the availability of the extra bed or cot.

OThe price of your stay includes the accommodation you have booked, three towels per guest, and housekeeping, linen, and towel change service. The price also includes use of the Wi-Fi throughout the building, use of the multi-functional room facilities, including the hostel kitchen and hostel laundry when available, subject to compliance with the specific rules posted on the premises. Breakfast is not included. However, the hostel cafeteria has a breakfast menu for guests, which has been specially devised by the hostel management and perfectly balances both quality and price.

Unless change in schedule without notice, you can make use of the pousada's cafeteria service daily between 8 am and 9 pm.

Smoking is not permitted inside the hostel. This also includes smokeless cigarettes and electronic cigarettes.

No food or drink, including alcoholic beverages, is permitted in the rooms at the hostel.

When available, the kitchen may be used by individual guests between 8 am and 11 pm, subject to compliance with specific rules posted on the premises.

Personal belongings found at the hostel after check out can be collected from reception within a period of 30 days, by whoever can demonstrate that they are the rightful owner.

You can give your opinion at the reception and/or on the channel that you used to make the booking.

Animals are not permitted to enter or stay on hostel premises, except for assistance dogs.

Yes, you can enjoy the cafeteria of the Pousada between 8 am and 9 pm, or participate in activities, punctual and disclosed in advance, promoted by the Pousada, as long as directed to the general public.

You must provide either your identity card or passport at check in.

COMMON AREAS

1st floor

On the first floor, you will find the hostel cafeteria, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There you can enjoy the open-air terrace and socialise with both locals and other guests. The cafeteria offers a breakfast menu for guests at the hostel, which has been specially devised by the hostel management and perfectly balances both quality and price.

2nd floor

On the 2nd floor is the Reception in a cosy lobby, where you can simply relax while waiting for check-in.

3rd floor

On the top floor, you can make use of the modern and relaxed multi-functional room, complete with television and access to premium channels, as well as space for computers. There is also access to a roof terrace, where you can enjoy the view and soak up the immense landscape that Sintra has to offer. There is also a hostel kitchen where you can prepare small meals or snacks while you relax or have fun with friends.
